December 16, 2024: From last few days, students have been asking – the possibility of exam postponement.
“Maybe if it gets postponed, I’ll have more time to prepare…”
“The dates were announced so late, how can we be ready?”
“Should I wait for the final schedule before starting serious preparation?”
I understand these concerns. But here’s a reality check that might just change your perspective.
Think about this timeline for a moment:
May 23: Last corrections accepted
May 31: Full exam schedule announced (just 7 days later!)
June 7: City information released
June 14: Admit cards in hand
June 18: Exam day
If we apply the same pattern (and NTA loves their patterns), here’s what we’re looking at:
Your correction window closes December 14. Following the June pattern, expect:
City intimation around December 20-21
Admit cards by December 26-27
And then, exams from January 1
“But that’s such a tight schedule!” I hear you say. Yes, it is! But remember, NTA has done this before, and they’ve done it successfully.
The Postponement Trap: A Teacher’s Perspective
Students often use potential postponement as a security blanket, a comfortable excuse to delay their preparation. There are English teachers who will begin there play as the exams are approaching. You know, it’s there time to be in the trend!
But let me share something crucial – even if the exam gets postponed (and that’s a big if as I don’t think it will get postponed), we’re probably looking at a maximum delay of 10 days. Is it worth gambling your preparation time for those few extra days?
The Real Cost of Playing the Waiting Game
Here’s what actually happens when you wait for postponement:
- You lose precious momentum in your preparation
- Most critically, you might end up waiting another six months for the next attempt
Remember this: While you’re waiting for potential postponement, other candidates are steadily preparing, regardless of the date.

A Personal Note to Every Aspirant
Look, I get it. The pressure is real, and the temptation to hope for more time is natural. But success doesn’t come to those who wait for perfect conditions; it comes to those who make the best of current conditions.
January 1 is your target. Own it. Embrace it. Prepare for it.
