December 13, 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant changes to the UGC NET examination format for 2024, marking a pivotal shift in how this crucial academic qualification test will be conducted.
One Time Slot for Everyone
You know how earlier some students would take the exam in the morning and others in the evening? Well, that’s changing! From January 1 to January 19, 2024, everyone taking the same subject will sit for the exam at the same time.
In English Literature UGC-NET exam, we have seen how one gets an easier paper in the morning, while another student face tougher questions in the evening.
To fix the results, they used “normalization” method – basically, a way to make scores fair between different shifts.
Started after Covid-19 outbreak, the method has created its own headaches, so now
- No more complicated math to adjust scores
- No more wondering if the other shift got easier questions
When Will Your Exam Be?
The exams will happen between January 1-19, and they usually follow a pattern:
- Language subjects (like English) usually go first (Medium Subjects)
- Then come the subjects with fewer students (Light Subjects)
- Finally, the more popular subjects (Heavy Subjects)
It happens in this way because they need to organize it so everyone can fit in the exam centers comfortably.
What Should You Do Now?
Mark December 31st on your calendar. That’s your preparation deadline. Whether you get January 1 or January 19 as your exam date, you should be ready by December 31st.
Remember, at the end of the day, what matters most is how well you know your subject. These changes are just making things fairer and simpler.
Just remember – clear mind, focused preparation, and positive attitude are your best friends in this journey.
